Meet Amber and her Mama
Hi everybody! It’s me, Amber!
I’m a professional trail explorer, full‑time house guardian, snack enthusiast, and the official Big Sister around here. I take all my jobs very seriously — especially the hiking one. Mama says I’m “a little dramatic,” but I say I just have big feelings about mountains, mud, and squirrels.
I live in East Tennessee where the trails smell like sunshine, pine needles, and adventure. My favorite places are Mr. Bays Mountain, the Beauty Spot, and anywhere Mama will let me do a REAL hike. (Seven miles is not that long. I keep telling her.)
I started this page because I wanted to share my adventures, my opinions, and my very important updates with all my friends. Sometimes Mama says I need to “start slow” or “take it easy,” but I’m always ready to GO. If you ever hear otherwise, please know she is wrong.
When I’m not hiking, I enjoy:
- Rolling in the grass
- Lying in any sunshine I can find
- Meeting new people (I kiss everyone)
- Keeping my little brother Davy out of trouble
- Eating treats Daddy sneaks me
- Planning my next big adventure
- Barking at suspicious turkeys in my yard
I believe every dog deserves a good trail, a soft blanket, and a human who loves them as much as Mama loves me. I hope my stories make you smile, help you get outside more, and remind you that life is better when you follow your nose.
Thanks for being here, friends. Keep your paws crossed for more hikes soon.
Love,
Amber
Hi everybody! It’s me, Amber!
I want to tell y’all about my Mama, because she is the most important human in my whole entire world (even if she does make some very questionable decisions about how far I’m allowed to hike).
Mama is the one who takes me on all my adventures. She says she’s “just trying to keep me safe,” but I think she secretly likes watching me run up the trail like a majestic mountain deer. She always brings snacks, water, and about twelve things I don’t think we need, but she says we do. (I let her carry them because I’m polite.)
Mama is real smart about trails and weather and all the things that could hurt my paws. She knows where the good smells are, where the shady spots are, and where the mud puddles are that she pretends she doesn’t want me to roll in. She also knows all the names of the places I love — Mr. Bays Mountain, the Beauty Spot, Warriors Path — and she says them in that excited voice that means we’re going somewhere fun.
She takes care of me when I’m sick, even though I tell her I’m fine. She gives me the nasty food the dogtor says I have to eat, but she also lets Daddy sneak me the good treats when she’s not looking. (I think she actually does know, but she pretends she doesn’t because she loves us.)
Mama is the one who makes sure I get to meet nice people, see pretty places, and live my best trail-dog life. She scratches my ears just right, tucks me in at night, and always makes sure I get the soft blanket before Davy steals it.
I love my Mama more than all the mountains in Tennessee. She’s my hiking partner, my snuggle buddy, my snack distributor, and my very best friend. And even though she says I have to “start slow” sometimes, I know she’s just trying to make sure I get to hike for a long, long time.
So if you like my adventures, you should thank my Mama — she’s the reason I get to share them with y’all.
Love,
Amber
Hi, it’s me again — Amber. I need to tell you about my little brother, Davy.
Mama brought him home when he was a tiny, squeaky puppy… and now he’s bigger than me. Much bigger. I don’t know how it happened. One day he fit under my chin, and the next day he was stepping over me like I’m a decorative throw pillow.
Even though he’s huge, he’s still my little brother — and he acts like it. He follows me everywhere, copies everything I do, and thinks he needs to sit on Mama’s lap even though he is absolutely not lap‑sized anymore.
Davy is our Rookie Explorer, Snack Thief in Training, and the most dramatic oversized toddler Mama has ever brought home. He loves hiking, but only if the weather is perfect, the trail is soft, and Mama packed at least three kinds of treats. He says he’s “building endurance,” but I think he just likes being carried… which is hilarious, because he weighs more than I do.
When he’s not shadowing me, Davy enjoys:
- Stealing my toys
- Stealing my bed
- Stealing my snacks
- Snuggling with Mama like he’s still eight pounds
- Running zoomies at 2 a.m.
- Pretending he’s braver than he is
- Being cute so no one stays mad at him
He may be bigger than me now, but he’ll always be my little brother — and part of our adventure crew forever.
Love (and a dramatic eye roll),
Amber

Some notes about Amber:
Hi y’all, I’m Amber — Mama’s 8‑year‑old pittie sidekick and the official Chief Trail Scout around here. My job is very important: I sniff the paths, chase off suspicious squirrels, splash in every puddle, and remind Mama when it’s time for snacks. I’m gentle, goofy, and a little dramatic when the trail gets steep, but I always keep us moving. PittieGoHike is my happy place, where I get to show the world that pitties belong in the great outdoors and that every adventure is better when you’ve got a wagging tail leading the way.
❤️ Why We’re Here
