Mama said I could share my very best trail recommendations with you, the ones that make my tail wag so hard my whole body wiggles. These are the places where the sunshine smells good, the squirrels are suspicious, and the adventures are BIG.
If you’re looking for dog‑friendly trails in East Tennessee, these are some of my absolute favorites.

Bays Mountain
Difficulty: Easy to Moderate
Why I love it: Nice maintained trails, plenty of room to get away from the crowds
Good For:
- Families
- Dogs who are well-behaved on the leash and love to sniff every leaf
- Anyone who wants a peaceful walk in the woods
Roan Mountain
Difficulty: Moderate to Difficult
Why I love it: Absolutely gorgeous views, loads of good smells for my Trail Captain nose
Best For:
- anyone who loves sweeping mountain views
- Dogs who love open spaces and cool breezes
- photographers wanting a high-reward adventure without a lot of technical terrain


Beauty Spot
Difficulty: Easy to Moderate
Why I love it: Amazing hike to amazing 360 degree views
Best For:
- Sunset lovers
- photographers
- Open-space loving dogs
- And you can drive to this one too, so it’s perfect for those who can’t hike long distances
