Wilbur Dam Rd to Watuaga Lake Shelter: Amber’s Trail Adventure 🐾

I almost missed this hike, y’all! My brother zoomed off without me, but Mama knew I needed my own trail time. So after their hike, Mama put me in the car and we hit the woods together, starting at Wilbur Dam Rd.

We wandered through Ro-Do-Den-Dan bushes, climbed rocky switchbacks, and strutted across the Watauga Dam like I owned it. The Apple-At-Chin Trail was full of crunchy leaves and sniff-worthy surprises—I made sure to inspect every inch.

At the Watauga Lake Shelter, I claimed a bunk (not really–the “shelter” was Gone!), then we hiked up to the lookout. Wind in my ears, paws on the edge, soaking in the view. Mama said I was brave. I say I was born for this.

We wrapped up at the visitor’s center, where I got belly rubs and compliments. Not bad for a pup who almost got left behind!
