Exploring Historic Blakeley State Park: Amber’s Big Alabama Adventure

Hi friends, it’s me — Amber the Adventure Pittie — reporting from one of the coolest places I’ve ever sniffed: Historic Blakeley State Park in Spanish Fort, Alabama. Mama and I went exploring while we were visiting Aunt Sue, and wow… this place has everything a hiking dog could dream of.

🌿 First Impressions: Trails, Trees, and So Many Smells

The moment we stepped onto the trail, I knew it was going to be a good day. The woods were full of sunshine, crunchy leaves, and about a thousand interesting smells. I saw squirrels, frogs, and even a few birds that definitely wanted to be my friends (Mama disagrees, but she is wrong).

We wandered through quiet forest paths, followed boardwalks, and found little surprises around every corner.

🏛️ Exploring History… Amber Style

Blakeley isn’t just pretty — it’s old. Like, older than Mama’s favorite hiking boots.

We found:

  • The foundation of an old courthouse
  • A model of a Native American hut
  • A giant cannon (I barked at it just in case)
  • Signs telling stories about the people who lived here long before I was born

Mama read the signs. I sniffed the ground. Teamwork.

🐕‍🦺 Dog‑Friendly and Full of Adventure

The best part? This park is super dog‑friendly. I got to lead the way, choose the trails, and investigate every leaf that looked suspicious. There were long trails, short trails, and plenty of places to stop for water and snacks — my favorite part of any hike.

🌅 A Perfect Day in Spanish Fort

After exploring the park, we visited Aunt Sue’s place, where I got extra pets and maybe a treat or two (don’t tell Mama). By the end of the day, my paws were tired, my tail was happy, and my heart was full.

❤️ Final Thoughts from Your Favorite Hiking Pittie

Historic Blakeley State Park is officially on my “must‑return” list. If you love quiet trails, big trees, and a little bit of history mixed into your adventure, this place is perfect.

I can’t wait to go back and explore even more.

Love, Amber Your trail‑sniffing, history‑discovering, always‑ready-for-more adventure buddy

Amber’s Paws‑Up Rating: 4 muddy paws up for endless sniff‑spots, friendly trails, and bonus history lessons I definitely pretended to understand.
