Tennessee Winter Hiking Throwback: Amber’s Snowy Rocky Fork Adventure (2020)

Hey y’all, it’s Amber! Since Mama and I can’t get on the trails right now, we’re sharing one of our favorite adventures from 2020 — the day we explored Rocky Fork State Park and found SNOW. Yes, real snow. I was thrilled!

Mama picked Rocky Fork because it’s one of our go‑to hiking spots in East Tennessee, and she had a feeling the higher elevation might still be holding onto some winter magic. She was right. The moment my paws hit the trail, I spotted white patches everywhere and immediately went into full zoomie mode.

We followed the Whitehouse Cliffs Trail, crunching through snow and ice while the creek rushed beside us. Mama kept telling me to “be careful,” but I was too busy sniffing tracks — I’m pretty sure some belonged to turkeys, and I took my tracking duties very seriously.

Parts of the trail were slick, but Mama helped me around the icy spots, and we took our time enjoying the quiet woods, the cold air, and the way the snow sparkled in the sunlight. It felt like our own little winter wonderland.

By the time we headed back, my paws were chilly, my nose was frosty, and my heart was full. Rocky Fork never disappoints, and this snowy hike is still one of my favorite memories.

Until we can get back out there, I’ll keep sharing these throwback adventures. Stay cozy, friends — and keep your tails wagging.
