🐾 Amber’s Big Adventure on the Can’t Hardly Trail at Cloudland Canyon!

Hello everybody! It’s me, Amber, and I have BIG news. I know I already told y’all about my adventure at Historic Blakeley State Park, but Mama had a surprise for me on the way home… we stopped at Cloudland Canyon State Park and hiked a whole second trail! Can you believe it?

I was snoozing in the car when I felt the road get all twisty. I sat up, looked around, and realized we weren’t on the big road anymore. We were climbing up a hill (maybe even a mountain!), and then Mama pulled into a gravel parking lot. That’s when I knew something FUN was about to happen.

Mama got me out, I sniffed EVERYTHING, and then she took me across the road to a trail called the Can’t Hardly Trail. I totally know why it’s called that, because I could hardly wait to get started!

This trail was about 3.75 miles long, and it took us a little more than 1½ hours—but that’s because I had to swim in every creek I found. And there were a LOT of creeks. Mama says the trail is ā€œmostly dirt with some rocky spots,ā€ but I say it’s ā€œperfect for splashing.ā€

The whole trail was almost completely shaded, which made it super comfy for hiking. Mama says it would be a great summer trail because the trees keep you cool and the creeks run right beside the trail for a long time. I approve of this message.

We only passed one man on a bike, so it felt like the whole forest was just for us. I saw a few squirrels (not enough), a few chipmunks (better), and zero fish (I pretended I saw some). But I could smell deer and lots of other animals hiding in the woods. I have a VERY good nose, so I know these things.

There were rocks to climb on, hills to go up and down, and even a bridge I crossed TWICE because I’m brave and also because it was fun. The trail was well‑marked and easy to follow, even for Mama, who sometimes gets confused by twisty paths.

🐾 Would I Recommend It? YES.

I loved this trail. It had:

  • Woods
  • Water
  • Wildlife smells
  • Shade
  • Rocks
  • Surprises over every hill

Basically everything a hiking dog dreams about.

The only bad part was when Mama said it was time to leave. I did NOT want to get in the car. I made her pick me up and put me in—boooo! I told her we should come back next week, but she made a face. I don’t know why. It wasn’t that far.

šŸ“Mama’s Note

The Can’t Hardly Trail at Cloudland Canyon State Park was beautiful, quiet, and very dog‑friendly. Just a heads‑up for anyone planning a trip:

  • You do have to pay to park.
  • It was about four hours from home, so Amber will not be going back next week.
  • But it would make a wonderful summer weekend getaway, especially with all the shade and creek access.
